I'm not saying that Cat is the best, but Bobcat definitely is not anymore, Takeuchi's are very powerful machines, it takes sometime to get used to their pilot controls, but they will eat a Bobcat alive. Based on availability of local support, cost and financing, I've narrowed the field to include the Cat 299C, Bobcat T320, and Takeuchi TL250. The selected machine will include the manufacturer's forestry cab options, with sealed operator compartment and A/C, hydraulic quick connect and high-flow pump. #1. The contractor I do most of my repair work for is considering switching from Bobcat equipment (track loaders and excavators) to Takeuchi. He says the Takeuchi dealer told him their equipment was "more reliable and easier to work on as they didn't have computers".
We're looking for a newer model used skid steer. Never owned one before but have ran a few Cats. What models and brands does everyone like? We want a mid size one that will lift at least a ton. Will probably get one with enclosed cab, two speed, and aux hydraulics. Heavily leaning toward a Cat 242- 256 2013 or newer. TIAThe Takeuchi TL12 and Cat 299D are two powerful machines that address different needs on the jobsite. The Takeuchi TL12 is a powerful and durable machine designed to handle heavy work in tough terrain with ease. Another option would be a large wheeled skid steer (CASE 90 or 95XT, BOBCAT S300 or equivilent) with the Loegren tracks. This would give you the flexibility of running wheels or tracks. Might be silly but this seems to matter to me. I think I would want the TL12 which is similar weight and power wise to the T870 sorta. Difficult to decide whose specs are right vs whose are inflated?
