So I'm thinking of getting a skid steer to expand my snow removal capacity. Right now i have an old one ton, new pickup and new one ton all with plows and Sanders. Bought an older 2 yard loader last winter to push banks with. Don't really use it in the summer except in the yard. I have a good residential snow route now that i can do with one tuck.
Two options we are considering are a tractor with a mid-pto and front blower (say Kubota LX3310 with front blower) which would end up being around k or a skid steer with a hydraulic blower, which we are pricing out closer to 0k. We are looking for practical advice and real world experience on both of those. There was a jcb load all I saw at a recent farm show. The guy said 50k it does 25km can lift something like 3200lb and extends 13 ft in the air and it's the size if not smaller then a skid steer. front hydros a steering wheel side entry and all wheel steer with a foot throttle. No turf damage just zoom the boom. Anyone can drive it. The New Hampshire location receives 70 to 125 inches of snow a year with occasional concerns of ice. I am considering a plow truck or skid steer or midsize tractor to plow the bulk of the steep portion of the driveway and possibly a snow blower and/or ATV for smaller snow removal tasks. An alternative for snow removal could be a wheel loader.

Common sense to some degree - tires give you ground contact maybe 3' wide X 1' long (in 4 localized areas) whereas tracks give you complete ground coverage 2-3' wide X 6-8' long.
Never had to run chains durning a snow season on my 773G turbo skid-steer. I've loaded 10 wheelers, stacked, pushed, salted and even pulled a couple trucks out in both wet and compacted snow. Feathering the controls (fwd. rev. motion) when the tires start to slip, always seems to work for me and my operators. magnums Does anybody have any suggestions on a heavy duty snow plow designed to be run on skid steers? I am starting to look for a replacement blade for next winter. Currently I am running a 7 1/2 foot Curtis blade with pro-wings on a JD 325 skid equipped with Wolf Paw tires and a two speed.
