Also another good feature of the Cat is the reach it has ( with the bucket angled down).

Price 23000.00 Will be using it for site work on my own home building project in the rocky soil of southern Maine. The 257B is a great machine. It's powerful and fast and its controls are VERY smooth. There really isn't a good comparison of this machine to the other tracked machines out there -- in a word, it's simply more refined. I owned a 257B for 2 and a half years and it was a pretty good machine. The weak point on them is the idler wheels on the under carriage. If your using something heavy on the front mine seemed to wreck bearings all the time. The only other problem I had was the head gasket. New to the group here and have only ran Bobcats but I am looking at a 2006 257B with 1500 hours. Tracks look good but I was wondering what the known issues.

However, they are more maintenance intensive when compared to other brands with rigid undercarriages vs. the suspended carriage. We use our Chinese mini excavator and the auger for the 1st time. Changing the 40cm bucket for the auger motor and fit the hydraulic lines. Test the auger .
